Anne Main urges the Government to recognise the pressures on schools and the real-terms cut in per-pupil funding, particularly for SEND pupils and calls on the Government to provide sufficient funding to cover the extra costs incurred by National Insurance contributions, employer pension contributions, ageing buildings as well as schools now providing services to young people that used to be paid for by health and local authorities.

Anne Main highlights the fact that too many young people who get involved in crime have been failed by the education system often because of undiagnosed special educational needs and calls on the Government to ensure that young people are not let down by the system ending up with few qualifications and little hope for the future.

Speaking in the debate on the Bill requiring the PM to seek an extension to Article 50, Anne Main moves an amendment to set a limit of any extension as 22nd May.

Anne Main raises concerns about the future of the high street as office space is turned over to residential and, particularly in high value areas, shops struggle with high business rates.
