The Department for Business, Innovation & Skills (BIS) has awarded Buildings Research and Establishment (BRE) Ltd a grant of up to £50,000 through the Improving Engineering Careers Employer Ownership Fund.
St Albans MP Anne Main, whose constituency covers Bricket Wood where BRE are based, has said it was ‘great to hear that the Government is investing in local business.
‘Backing businesses like BRE is vital. They are pivotal in providing the skills and expertise that are used for making sure government, industry and business meet the challenges of building sustainably.
‘Recently, when the Infrastructure Act was progressing through Parliament, I made representations to the Committee stating we must “live in our environment in a sustainable way”. Supporting companies like BRE will help achieve that goal.
‘The Employer Ownership Fund should help to encourage SMEs grow the number of engineers on their books. If BRE, and other similar companies, can take advantage of these grants, then hopefully these businesses can grow and become more productive through investing in the skills of their current and future engineers.’
