Anne Main MP, along with Business Minister Ed Vaizey, attended a lunch to promote the new museum and gallery planned for the centre of St Albans. The event hosted by the St Albans Chamber of Commerce and the local Museums and Galleries Trust sought to discuss ways in which this exciting project could attract the remaining investment needed to begin the development.

Anne said, ‘I was delighted to put my name to this project, and that the Minister could attend, to explore ways we can help the Trust get this off the ground. We still need the funding, and I pay tribute to the work that the St Albans Museum and Galleries Trust and the Chamber of Commerce are doing to secure the money that will greatly benefit the city.

‘We have such a long and rich cultural history in St Albans, a new museum and gallery will display the wonderful heritage we have, and continue to promote St Albans in the decades that follow.

‘The Minister was very impressed by what St Albans had to offer. Our Conservative council are right to focus on strategy that emphasises tourism in the area, and promote the city’s proximity to London. We need to continue to sell St Albans so we can tap into the London tourist market and all the benefits that would bring.

‘I wholeheartedly support every effort to get this project going and urge business leaders from the community to look at ways in which they can get involved with fundraising, whether it be sponsoring part of the museum; organising fundraising events; keeping an eye out for the Trust’s Appeal to be launched in the Autumn, and promoting the Trust to clients.’
