Anne Main has today welcomed a Government announcement of additional compensation for thousands who lost savings when their employer-sponsored pension schemes collapsed.
Anne said:
"This will be welcome news to my constituents who were victims of the collapse Hemel Hempstead shelving manufacturer Dexion and all the campaigners who have spent their own time and money trying to get this Government to right its pensions wrongs. When I raised this matter with the Secretary of State for Pensions in the summer I made it clear that it was in these pensioners' interests that we get them more money as quickly as possible, and I hope that this announcement will ensure this now happens.
I will, however, be keeping a sharp eye on the DWP to ensure that they put together a workable solution to my constituents' pensions woes and not just a "sticking plaster" which makes a good headline but does not actually help former Dexion employees and the 140,000 pensioners who were affected by similar collapses nationwide. The Government owes it to these pensioners to keep its promises this time.""
