Bangladesh High Commissioner

17th December 2018
Today, St Albans MP Anne Main met the new Bangladesh High Commissioner to the United Kingdom. Saida Muna Tasneem took over the role at the beginning of December and was previously the Bangladeshi ambassador to Thailand.

Mrs Main, as chair of the all-party group on Bangladesh, spoke to the new High Commissioner about future trading relationships between the two countries and crucially about the ongoing Rohingya refugee crisis in Bangladesh.

Speaking after the meeting, Anne said ‘I was delighted to meet the new High Commissioner who I am sure will do a wonderful job. It is very important to keep strong links between the Bangladesh High Commission and MPs in Westminster at this critical time. Of course trade is important, but with the upcoming elections in Bangladesh and the endless concerning reports coming from the Rohingya refugee camps, it is crucial that the UK government continues to work constructively in support of Bangladesh and the people there.’
