Rail Freight Update – Provisional Appeal Timetable
Planning Inspectorate Reference: APP/B1930/A/09/2109433
Further to our previous correspondence regarding the Rail Freight proposal for the former Radlett Aerodrome Site, I am writing to let you know that the Planning Inspectorate has proposed 24th November as a starting date for the next public inquiry into the scheme.
Whilst many parties, including the Highways Agency and train operator First Capital Connect, have expressed the view that this start date would be far too early, and would not allow enough time for the necessary evidence on rail and road capacity to be completed, at present it seems likely that this will be the start date. I have, however, written to the Planning Inspectorate to ask them to consider moving back the date as I feel that it is important to ensure that all the technical aspects of the proposal are properly considered. I understand that STRIFE and the Council will also be meeting with representatives of the Planning Inspectorate soon to push for a similar delay.
It is likely that the inquiry will again be held at the District Council Offices and I will, of course, be requesting to speak on your behalf. It is also important that you pass on your objections to the Planning Inspectorate once again, so they are clear about the views of local people on this proposal.
I am told by the Planning Inspectorate that, if you wish to pass on your objections, you should submit them to the case officer, quoting the reference above, by 30th September 2009 at the following address:
Ms Sarah Banwell
Case Officer
The Planning Inspectorate
Room 4/04 Kite Wing
Temple Quay House
2 The Square
Temple Quay
Bristol BS1 6PN
As always, STRiFE is leading the campaign, and they need your support. You can keep informed by visiting the STRiFE website at www.strife.biz, or my rail freight specific website at www.no2railfreight.com. I will also continue to update you as part of my mailing list, as I do with more than 1,000 local people. If you know of anyone who would like to be added to the list please do not hesitate to let me know.
With best wishes,
