Rail Freight Update
I promised to keep you informed with any further developments regarding HelioSlough’s proposal to build a strategic rail freight interchange on the site of the former Radlett Aerodrome site. As you may have read in the local newspapers, HelioSlough submitted an application to St Albans District Council on Thursday 9th April.
Whilst the application has not yet been registered, I understand that it appears to be exactly the same as the previous proposal. Because there is legislation in place covering decision making for identical or similar proposals, St Albans District Council and their planning and legal teams are not yet in a position to give a view on this application, and so there is no further news on what action may be taken by the council.
As soon as the council gives an answer, which we expect in the next couple of weeks, we will then know what the next steps will be, and I shall write to you again. Should the council decide to proceed with determination then we will need your help and support to oppose the application. In that event, I hope that you will be able to lend your support to a new STRIFE campaign. For more information on this you can visit their website at www.strife.biz. I will also continue to keep you informed of further developments.
With best wishes,
