Anne Main, Conservative MP for St Albans, has today expressed concern that the West Herts Hospitals NHS Trust has been rated as 'weak' by the Healthcare Commission on both use of resources and quality of services.
Anne said:
"It is disappointing that West Herts has scored weak in both categories. I understand that the mixed sex wards which contributed to their weak rating are now a thing of the past and improvements have been made in managing hospital-acquired infection rates.
I know that the staff and the Trust have been working extremely hard to pull themselves up in the rankings but whilst there have been some improvements there is still a great deal to do. The Trust has had to pull itself out of a financial black hole but my constituents need to be reassured that, in an effort to meet Government targets, the Trust does not take its eye off the ball of patient care.""
