Statement on the ACA Review
13th October 2009
Anne Main comments on the Additional Costs Allowance Review by Sir Thomas Legg.
Commenting on the Additional Costs Allowance Review by Sir Thomas Legg, Anne Main, MP for St Albans, said:
"Following the Additional Costs Allowance Review of all Members of Parliament, Sir Thomas Legg's only observations were that I needed to provide documentation to confirm that my mortgage was on an interest-only basis and that a half-yearly service charge was correct. In light of this, I shall be sending the required documentation which shows my mortgage is, indeed, an interest-only mortgage and that all payments in respect of my mortgage are, therefore, interest-only. I am also requesting from my service provider a breakdown of the service-charges paid in respect of my flat, and I shall be passing these on to Sir Thomas.
In all other respects, Sir Thomas Legg has not asked for any other clarification or, indeed, asked me to make any repayments, and it would appear that he is satisfied that my claims were within the guidelines at the time and, indeed, the retrospective guidelines that he is applying now. I am happy to provide him with the additional information as requested with regard to his provisional observations."

Further to her statement yesterday on the Additional Costs Allowance Review by Sir Thomas Legg, Anne Main, MP for St Albans, said:
"In my statement yesterday, I said that I was seeking clarification regarding a half-yearly service charge in respect of my second home. Upon investigation, it appears that an invoice for half-yearly service charge of £463.59 for the first six months of 2007 was double-invoiced and paid twice, which of course is incorrect.
Obviously, this was an accounting error, which was not spotted at the time, and I was totally unaware of it. Now this error has been brought to light, the money will, of course, be repaid. I am grateful to Sir Thomas Legg for pointing out this anomaly."
