Anne Main attended the opening of the Chrysalis School for autistic children at a temporary site in Codicote Herts. Parents from across Hertfordshire including St Albans have in desperation set up their own specialist school for autistic children. Su King from St Albans is the new headmistress and she is currently hunting for a site in St Albans so that the school can be permanently based there.

Anne said "It has taken a long time for these parents to reach this goal. These children cannot for various reasons function inside mainstream schools and anxious families have worked so hard to try to obtain the education their children need. It's such a shame that currently funding seems to be unavailable for these particular disabled children and that Su and the parents are struggling to get any form of financial help. I believe that each child has a right to an education that develops each child to its fullest potential, inclusion in main stream education doesn't suit every child and we should cater for that. For many disabled children, particularly autistic children, specialist teaching tailored to their needs is the best way forward and I will do all I can to help Chrysalis and other such providers succeed."
