St Albans business summit ‘fantastically productive’

If a Conservative Government is elected, it will be “the most business friendly government since the war” - Ken Clarke at the St Albans Business Summit.

Following a successful 2010 St Albans Business Summit Anne Main today thanked Shadow Business Innovation and Skills Secretary, Ken Clarke, for his promise that if a Conservative Government is elected in the forthcoming general election it will be “the most business friendly government since the war”.

Ken, who was Anne’s guest at the summit, spoke frankly to a capacity crowd about the situation in the country and the need to “rebalance the economy”, adding that whilst “London and the city must remain the financial capital of the world, the UK economy must not be overly reliant on it”.

Following the summit, Anne said:
“This was a fantastically productive summit. It’s great that we have such a thriving local business community and I hope today will have shown everyone how serious the Conservatives are about supporting businesses in St Albans and the country as a whole.

I know Ken was keen to come and speak to the local business community and it was great that he was able to speak with such authority about the challenges facing the country. There are no two ways about it. We need to tackle our debt crisis to ensure that Britain is a place that is attractive to investors. You can’t spend your way out of debt and our fragile economy has to be encouraged to grow.”
