Anne Main: Worries Confirmed by Department of Health Report into Sexual Health Provision within St Albans
After reading a report commissioned by the Department of Health following a visit to Watford and St Albans City Hospital that was investigating sexual health provision Anne Main said:
"I pressed for an investigation into Sexual Health provision with St Albans following meetings with experts at the Clinics; concerns raised by various constituents; and answers to my questions in Parliament.
"Unfortunately, all my worries have been confirmed by this report.
"We already know that HIV incidences in Hertfordshire have risen by 1500% since 1997 and here in black and white we have a statement from the Department of Health that 'Financial pressures within the Trust have led to stringent savings and more recently a vacancy freeze on posts. Unfortunately these restraints have impacted on the GUM service at a time when demand for the service is rising and the need to extend capacity within the clinics is imperative.'
"I have today written, again, to the Secretary of State for Health to demand her personal intervention with Sexual Health provision in St Albans.""
