Railfreight: Helioslough must ensure adequate rail modelling is conducted
13th August 2009
Anne Main comments following a meeting with the Managing Director of London Rail, Ian Brown.
Following a meeting with the Managing Director of London Rail, Ian Brown, earlier today Anne Main, MP for St Albans, said:
"I was pleased that TFL agreed to this meeting as we are keen to consult with as many parties as possible on the proposal. Ian Brown and the others present were keen to stress that adequate modelling of rail paths required to access the site must be conducted. This is something that was not done properly the first time around.
The lack of rail paths is something that First Capital Connect, STRIFE and I have all expressed deep concerns about, and this is why such studies are so vital. Modelling such as this is routinely conducted by Network Rail and paid for by developers, but we have seen no evidence that Helioslough are in negotiations on this with Network Rail to do this.
I believe that this proposal would severely disrupt rail services on the Midland Main Line and I will continue, with STRiFE, to fight it as I feel it would have a detrimental impact on our community.""
