Railfreight decision delayed
10th June 2010
Anne Main, MP for St Albans, has responded to today’s news that the decision on the rail freight proposal has been delayed.
The Department for Communities and Local Government wrote to Anne today to advise that they would not now be in a position to issue a decision by 23rd June, and timetable had been varied so that a decision is now due on or before 8th July 2010.
Anne said:
“It is disappointing that we are to have this hanging over our heads for an extra two weeks. However, I very much hope that this will ensure that extra scrutiny will be taking place, and that the proposal is looked at in as much detail as possible.
“None of us want this to take any longer than it has to, but if a delay means the right result, I would rather have a delay.”
