MP Congratulates Loreto College at 'Shout About' Prize Giving

17th January 2006

This week, Anne joined Elliot Morley, Minister for the Environment, and other local MP's to congratulate the winning school and runners up of the 'Shout About Climate Change' competition run by Friends of the Earth.

This week, Anne joined Elliot Morley, Minister for the Environment, and other local MP's to congratulate the winning school and runners up of the 'Shout About Climate Change' competition run by Friends of the Earth.

The main purpose of the competition was to raise young people's awareness of the challenges that face our environment over the next few years, and the ways in which we can try to make a difference. The object of the competition was to produce a poster around the theme of climate change and what can be done to prevent it.

Loreto College of St Albans came runners up out of 46 schools across the country, and it was a wonderful chance for Anne to congratulate them on their success.

Anne said, 'Events like these are important in encouraging young people to think about the environment, and the ways that we can prevent things like climate change from happening. It is the girls from Loreto College, and others like them, who will have to face the consequences if challenges like climate change are not met head on. I congratulate the girls for the hard work that they put into their entry.'"
