Equitable Life members deserve justice

Anne Main calls for speedy delivery of fair compensation to Equitable Life policy holders.
Following the meeting of the Hertfordshire branch of the Equitable Life Members Action Group at the House of Commons this afternoon, and today's Written Ministerial Statement on Equitable Life, Anne Main, MP for St Albans, said:
"I am once again pledging my full support to ensure there is speedy non-means-tested delivery of fair compensation to Equitable Life policy holders, on the day that the Government slipped out a written Ministerial Statement in response to the court ruling against them.
The High Court ruled that that hundreds of thousands more victims of the Equitable Life debacle could now be entitled to compensation, but whilst the Government has said it's going to act speedily and fairly, Ministers are still talking about policy holders with disproportionate impact which yet again smacks of means-testing of some form. I remain to be convinced by these weasel words that the Government is genuinely going to speedily compensate, without discrimination, all those caught up in the Equitable Life scandal.
The Government has been slapped on the wrist, but Ministers are still using every opportunity they can to kick this into the long grass. In tomorrow's Opposition Day debate I shall be voting in favour of justice for Equitable Life policy holders."
