Anne Main has expressed disappointment following the refusal of her invitation to Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, Hilary Benn, to visit the Butterfly World Project.
In April, following an exchange in Parliament, Anne wrote to Secretary of State, Hillary Benn, to formally invite him to visit the project, which marks the official opening of its first phase tomorrow. The project will be a national resource attracting up to 1 million visitors a year, educating children about the natural environment and promoting research into the protection of butterflies.
Anne said:
"It is disappointing that the Secretary of State is not willing to visit Butterfly World. The first phase of the project officially opens tomorrow, and it will not only be an excellent tourist attraction, but also a vital resource for butterfly conservation in the UK.
The Government should be supporting such vital projects but sadly Mr Benn is not even willing to come and have a look.""
