Anne Main welcomes investigation into Network Rail service failures
21st November 2011
The Office of Rail Regulation (ORR) has recently launched an investigation into a possible breach of condition one of Network Rail’s network licence with regard to Network Rail’s operational performance.
Network Rail recently announced that they were restructuring themselves so that the day-to-day running of Britain’s railway infrastructure has been devolved to ten strategic routes.
Anne said:
“I am pleased that the ORR is looking into Network Rail’s performance after a recent report suggested that they may have breached their network licence. Network Rail’s regular poor performance has had a very negative impact on my constituents and they should be made to answer for this. I have asked for a meeting to discuss how Network Rail’s restructuring will help improve their service. I regularly receive angry letters from my constituents highlighting their travel problems. I want to make sure that this restructuring is not just a reshuffling of deck chairs on the Titanic, I have made also submissions to the ORR outlining the problems my travelling constituents routinely face – I hope they take appropriate action.”
