Anne Main welcomes Government’s consideration of planning rules
22nd December 2011
In a report from the Commons Communities Committee on new planning rules it called the current National Planning Policy Framework at times ‘unhelpfully vague’. In response to this the Planning Minister, Rt. Hon Greg Clark, has said he will consider the findings.
Commenting on this consideration Anne said:
“I am glad the Government is considering the planning rules. I have continued to ask questions of a ‘presumption in favour of sustainable development’ as I do think that that this would favour building new homes over renovating old homes or encouraging the take up of currently unused properties. I think this would have been detrimental to St Albans and I wrote to the Minister encouraging him to consider the ramifications of these plans. I hope the Minister will consider the concerns of my constituents when he brings forward new planning laws in the New Year”.
