Anne Main welcomes General Election fight
6th April 2010
Anne Main has welcomed today's news that Gordon Brown has called an election for May 6th 2010.
Anne said:
“I am looking forward to the election campaign in St Albans. I will campaign on my record as a hard working champion for St Albans, and I believe local people know that only voting Conservative will help to get rid of this tired Labour Government. I have taken every opportunity to assist my constituents and involve myself in local issues over the last five years, and I think my opponents will struggle to criticise me on my record of representing St Albans residents. I have been and hope to continue to be their representative in Westminster, not Westminster’s representative in St Albans.
This election will be a chance for voters to pass judgment on Gordon Brown’s record. He has nearly bankrupt the country, raided our pensions, under-funded and under-equipped our troops, sold off our gold reserves at a record lows, increased the gap between rich and poor, given away our nation’s sovereignty to the EU and presided over the biggest deficit this country has ever known. I believe that only the election of a Conservative Government will deliver the change this country so desperately needs. St Albans residents decided to throw Labour out five years ago, now I hope the country will follow suit.”
