Anne Main welcomes extension of public health consultation

On 18th May, Anne Main met with Anne Walker, Chief Executive of East and North Hertfordshire Primary Care Trust, to discuss the reconfiguration proposals for the Trust.
On 18th May, Anne Main met with Anne Walker, Chief Executive of East and North Hertfordshire Primary Care Trust, to discuss the reconfiguration proposals for the Trust. At the meeting, Anne raised concerns that the public consultation period on the Trust's Acute Services Review would fall over the summer holiday period.
Anne said:
"Following my discussions at a meeting with Ms Walker in May, where I raised concerns about the level of public participation in any future consultation process, I am pleased that common sense has been brought into the equation and that the Trust will now be extending the normal 90 day consultation period.
I know that the public are thoroughly disillusioned with consultations, particularly since some, like "Investing In Your Health" have ultimately been scrapped. However, I feel it is essential that we give a strong steer to the Trust on this matter.
I hope that this extension will ensure that residents and, importantly, NHS staff, will not miss the opportunity to take part in the consultation. Massive changes are proposed for our local health service and I feel it is vital that everyone has their say.""
