Anne Main met with representatives of Alcohol Action Concern (AAC) to discuss the implications of the recently implemented Licensing Act.
Within the meeting Adam Huntley explained the 'Serve Wise Scheme' which teaches bar staff, amongst other things, their responsibilities under the licensing laws, best practice, people skills and the sensible promotion of drinks and drinking behaviour.
Anne commented "If we have to deal with this Licensing Act we need to ensure those serving drinks for even longer hours are sure of their responsibilities and I welcome any measures that facilitate a safer environment for those drinking as well as those who suffer from unruly behaviour. I welcome the fact 'ServeWise' gives valuable training to bar staff to deal with the public; it would be excellent if St Albans were able to become a 'ServeWise City' with all pubs and licensed premises participating."
If you require more information about ServeWise or need any more information or help with substance misuse please call AAC on 01923 630468."
