Anne Main listens to the voice of local businesses

18th February 2009

Anne Main, MP for St Albans, will meet local businesses this Friday (20/02) at a business summit to discuss the problems the city faces as a result of the economic downturn.

The summit, called by Anne in conjunction with the St Albans Chamber of Commerce, will be an opportunity for local businesses to explain the problems they face so that Anne can raise their issues with the Government in Parliament.

Anne said:

"Whilst I frequently meet with local businesses to discuss their problems, I felt it was particularly important to call this summit so I can listen to the voice of businesses in St Albans, and pass on any issues that they raise directly to the Government.

We cannot underestimate the value of working together through this period of uncertainty. This will be a particularly valuable opportunity to collect our thoughts and see what we can do to help our city, and the district, through the Credit Crunch. We all know that St Albans has a great history of thriving independent businesses and it is vital to maintain this.

The Government says it wants to help. I want to know if that help is getting through to where it is needed, and if there is anything more that could be done.""
