St Albans is on the site of Roman Verulamium. Verulamium was one of Roman Britain's largest towns and remains and artefacts from this period can be seen at the Verulamium Museum.

St Albans Abbey is the seat of the Bishop of St Albans and the Diocese of St Albans - which covers Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Barnet.

The centre of the City is dominated by the rare medieval Clock Tower built by the townspeople in 1403-1412.

St Albans is a thriving market and commuter town with good communication routes, being virtually surrounded by the M1, M25, A1(M) motorways and also having easy rail links with London, Watford, Luton and the North.
